México Nuevo Schools

A group of alumni from Colegio México in Mexico City developed an educational project taking the values and principles of their former school, reaching out to students from a wider socio-economic group, with educational campuses in several cities throughout the country.

An important goal was to create spaces where children and youngsters would feel comfortable, offering pleasant environments where they could grow and develop as individuals. All projects, while remaining unique, maintain a certain homogeneity in the use of materials. Exposed concrete and brick were used for their characteristic sobriety and timelessness, as well as for their low maintenance costs.

After careful analysis of the physical and environmental aspects of each site, each layout is organized around the administration and faculty building, which also houses a library and multi-use room on the upper floor. The kindergarten area is totally separate, with generous outdoor spaces for leisure time, and a vegetable garden on the roof, creating opportunities for teaching about sustainability.

In all the buildings, the use of green technologies in energy and water usage has become a “living course” on this subject, for students and teachers, as well as for visitors.
