El Encinar

The clients for this project were the young heirs to a real-estate family. From the start, they were willing to face the challenge of doing something different from the typical hillside site buildings. The solution consisted in a progressive 4-level terracing perpendicular to the natural hill slope, in order to achieve south-facing views, precisely to the beautiful holm-oak grove that gives name to the building and making the most of this orientation’s climatic advantages.

This led to the creation of a platform, within which are the parking spaces and the infrastructure services for the building.

On top of this platform is the four-level building, with three apartments: one on the ground floor, and two apartments sharing the upper three floors. This solution allowed for some terraces with generous double height spaces. The upper floor has a living room with double views: towards the wooded hillside to the south, and to the gorge with the “Los Helechos” creek, where the children’s playground and plant nursery are located.
