Santa Ana House

The Santa Ana house was a conversion and reutilization of ancient spaces and elements. Originally a Tarascan “troje” (grain barn) from the mountainous region of Angangueo, state of Michoacán, it had been abandoned by the original users. It was disassembled and transported to the Xitle mountain range in Tlalpan.

The original spaces were reinterpreted, entirely respecting the structure and its exemplary prefabrication methods.

The ground floor accommodates the living, cooking and eating areas. The mezzanine area, originally the grain and tool storage area, is now a library and a sketching studio.

On the hipped roof, one of the short sides was stripped of its wooden shingles and covered in glass, providing sufficient lighting for the interior spaces.
